Pileus up to 25 x 20 mm when still closed, up to 40 mm when expanded, creme to ochre, covered with a layer of veil that breaks up in small flocks. Lamellae crowded, first white, soon dark brwon to black. Stipe up to 80 x 2-5 mm, white, pruinose, with marginate, sometimes orange-red bulb of ozonium.
Spores 7-9 x 4.5-5.5 µm, somewhat phaseoliform with central germ pore. Pleurocystidia ellipsoid, oblong or utriform 50-120 x 30-55 µm. Cheilocystidia similar to pleurocystidia, but somewhat smaller and more (sub)globose ones. Veil in chains, and in part somewhat thick-walled (C. domesticus'-type). Caulocystidia present.
Habitat: on laying, dead branches.
