Placing
Text on a

interface or button

This will show how to place text on a interface and make it look
sunk in a little.

I didn't have time to make a nice interface for
the tutorial so I found this old piece of junk. Its not in really good shape but it should
do.

Ok first
open up the interface in Photoshop.

Press "D" and then "X" for correct default colors.

Select the type tool and click on the area of the interface where the button will be. You
should now have the Type edit window open. Make some white text to fit on the button and
click OK. Name this Type Layer "white" if you want.

Ok now duplicate
the white text layer by dragging it to the New Layer icon - left of the little trash can
button. Now drag the layer copy below the white text layer and then hold down
Ctrl>Shift>Delete (Mac: Command> Shift>Delete)
this makes the white text copy black

Your Layer order should look like
the left.

With the black
text layer active. Move it 1 pixel up and 1 pixel to the left using the arrow keys on the
keyboard.

You're done
and should have a text inset like show to the left.
